Mansfield mayor, Jodie Perry, testified this week in Columbus before the House Ways and Means Committee about Ohio House Bill 335.

Perry told lawmakers that the proposed legislation would cause irreparable harm to a city like Mansfield and other local governments across Ohio.

RichlandSource.com reports, the bill would eliminate inside millage, which in total would affect $3.5 billion in property taxes collected by local schools and governments.

Perry said, the inside millage represents $2.7 million per year to Mansfield's budget, which is 7 to 8 % of the general fund, however, safety forces make up 50% of the general fund. Perry mentioned there would be no way to avoid cuts, which would work out to 26 police officers and firefighters.
