Richland County Commissioners discuss $1.3 million storm water program

A new $1.3 million storm water utility program was discussed Tuesday by the Richland County Commissioners and the Richland Soil & Water Conservation District. The program would affect those who reside in Mifflin, Springfield, Washington and Madison Townships. The cost would be around $36 per year and would start in 2021. The reason is because the Ohio EPA says the District is out of compliance with the “Clean Water Act” and send out a notice last August.Failing to comply could cost as much as $10,000 per day in fines. The Richland County Commissioners are expected to vote on the matter Thursday.
